Kenya: Battle for a share of the low- end alcohol market is set to go a notch higher. This follows plan by Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) to introduce a low-priced brand in the market, to counter illicit brews. While there is a ban on spirits sold in sachets, most of these brands have surfaced in rural areas where business is booming.

Was LiIlian Muli Flirting with Konshens on Live TV? The Jamaican Dancehall Sensation Finally Responds

Sometime in April, Jamaican Dancehall artiste, Konshens, was in town ahead of his Guinness Evolution concert. But before that, he had a round of interviews to do on Kenyan TVs. Among those, Citizen TV.
So on the Friday before his concert, Konshens made a stop on Lilian Muli’s “One-on-One” show and somehow didn’t feel the interview at all and even felt that the sexy TV host came out as too flirtatious. It didn’t end there as the ‘KOT army’ unleashed a myriad of insolent memes and tweets towards the TV host.
And now more than a month after the untoward incident, Konshens has finally opened up about what he felt about the interview.
According to Konshens, he didn’t see anything wrong from the April 11th interview and wondered why KOT thought Lilian was flirty.
“Why were they going so hard saying she was flirty!!, I thought she did really well…relaxed vibe,” said Konshens in tweet to Citizen TV.

Arsenal Midfielder Aaron Ramsey in Nairobi - RAMBO

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has been in Kenya for the past one week.
The footballer is here for a private visit, and with him was his mother and girlfriendColleen Rowlands. He has been staying at the Maasai Mara.
Today, Ramsey was in Nairobi, where he told Goal.com that we should expect Arsenal to do better next season.
“We had a difficult season but thank God we fought our way back to the Champions League. Tottenham gave us a tough competition but finally we beat them on the tape for the Champions League slot.
We must now start planning for next season and I know Arsene (Wenger) will beef up the squad with quality signings. That is the way to go and hopefully we will be able to challenge for top honors come next season.” he said.
“We need a trophy now and next season I have strong believe that Arsenal will not disappoint. We must end this long wait and win a trophy.” he added.
The Welsh midfielder spoke after meeting young players from Ligi Ndogo who had paid him a courtesy call at Hemingways Nairobi in Karen.  “We had a difficult season but thank God we fought our way back to the Champions League. Ringtone Accused Of Stealing Lyrics

Ringtone has been accused of stealing lyrics and tune belonging to A single by Sagero A kisii based musician.

Sagero claims Ringtone’s song muziki ni dawa was originally his song and Ringtone only changed it into a Swahili tune in his now popular single.
Ringtone defended himself by saying: “I would like Kenyans to know that even if the songs have a similar title, I wrote mine from the Bible story of David and Saul. I don’t know where he got his inspiration from,”
“Why is he going around spreading lies that I stole his song? I have never even heard what he sings in the first place,” Ringtone charged.

LATEST NEWS: Ex-minister Kamanya commits suicide after losing in Malawi polls

Heard of a minister committing suicide after losing an election? Perhaps, it has never happened in India. But a Malawian minister has killed himself, police say, even as results are still awaited from Tuesday's general elections. According to a BBC report, outgoing deputy Local Government Minister Godfrey Kamanya shot himself at home.
The minister's spokesman denied reports that his suicide was linked to him apparently losing his parliamentary seat. Official results have not yet been declared in what is expected to be a tight presidential race.
The BBC's Raphael Tenthani in Malawi said the electronic counting system had broken down in some areas and votes were being collated manually in these places. Mr Kamanya left a suicide note at his home in the capital, Lilongwe, asking President Joyce Banda to take care of his daughter and provide for her education.

According to a BBC report, outgoing deputy Local Government Minister Godfrey Kamanya shot himself at home.

Counting was being done manually because the electronic system was "refusing to take the information from the ground where data clerks are stationed to send the results", chief elections officer Willie Kalonga told the AFP news agency.

Google faces 'fraud' lawsuit for cancelling AdSense accounts before time

Thursday, 22 May 2014 - 3:07pm

A US-based company has filed a lawsuit against Google accusing the tech giant of engaging in fraud by canceling AdSense accounts just before they were due to pay out.
AdSense is a major advertiser partner network for Google that accounts for about a quarter of Google's annual revenue.
According to CNET, the case was filed by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro on behalf of Free Range Content, the California-based owner of Repost.us
Google's actions constitute breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, unjust enrichment, and violation of the California Unfair Competition Law, the report added.
The filing with the US District Court for the Northern District of California states that the lawsuit is trying to get class action status so that it can represent all US-based AdSense users whose accounts were disabled or terminated, the report added.

Ciku Muiruri’s Blonde Facebook Post Leaves Her in Trouble With Fans

Ciku Muiruri is no stranger to controversy, especially as a result of her Facebook posts. She once caused quite a storm after posting a photo of herself in a swim suit. This time, she is making headlines for another controversial deed, or rather statement. Writing on Facebook on Tuesday, Ciku appeared to make a mockery of the security search at the Junction mall.
My car bonnet was just searched at Junction. Si they also check underneath the car and under the seats then? NKT! What would they do if they found a rifle? Beat me with a baton?
Many of those who commented were not amused. One Kagwiria Riungu wrote,”Seriously ciku after what has been happening in the country you can afford to complain about getting checked!!!!”
Here are some of the other comments.
King’s Kairu - if u complain about tha bonnet what if they told u to step out for that?truth is they r less equiped n trained.no one cn nvr b perfect in security bt they only try to instil fear thus if guilty most wil get nervous
Anne Maitai - So you don’t want them to search YOUR car bonnet, or all cars?? Human beings are a menace to themselves….
Aileen K. Mutegi - Can you just appreciate any little thing being done for security reasons and since you are a public figure give ideas and criticize positively not sarcastically. Do you know how risky that job is? That askari is likely to be the first casualty incase of a rifle or bomb so lets be supportive of these searches and for those who are heard like you, give suggestions not mockery!!!!!
Meshack Bingi Makhisa - how I wosh upatikane in the mix na those terrorists.you will appreciate the work of those poor soldiers unadharau.stupid girl
Lawrence Maina - They should have Alcoblowed you too, you sound drunk.
Beatie Mso Steve - Ciku u should be ur fans role model. Let security people do their job and hopefully they get the culprits in time. Just sit n think of many whom we’ve lost thro terrorism. Little as it may seem can save lives.
Peter Peter - I have admired you for a very long time…but you shouldn’t talk of the security guards in a negative way. Those men and women screening you are parents somewhere just like you and are not guards by choice
Norah Mwende - Ciku, are you complaining??????????? Kenyans cannot be helped!! nkt

5 Male Celebs Who Are Not Ashamed to Wear Skirts in Public

It all started back in 2011 when we saw Kanye do his entire set from the “Watch The Throne” tour in a leather skirt. Since then local celebs started to look into this new fad.

If you’ve been paying close attention to some of your favorite male celebrities in fashion for the past year, you have seen men wearing kilts (skirts) which, we think, are slowly becoming part of the “norm.”
While some of you may argue that some of these celebs are wearing kilts and not skirts, your argument won’t hold water; if you are not Scottish and it’s not for some sort of Scottish festival, wearing a kilt on stage while performing or at an awards show pretty much just counts as wearing a skirt.
So, after showing you how Chimano’s leather skirt and leggings, to boot, stood out during the exciting edition of “ROAD TO MAMA” in Tanzania last week, it’s only fair to refresh your mind with other celebs who rock it like a girl.
Check them out;

This Drug Prevents HIV Infection; Research Reveals

Medics now have additional
ammunition in their war chest
against HIV/AIDS and a potent
one it is. The American Food
and Drug Administration (FDA)
recently approved a drug
treatment that will prevent HIV
infection in previously
uninfected people.
The drug which is marketed as
Truvada, had already been
approved for the treatment of
HIV in infected persons. It
works by lowering the amount
of virus circulating in people’s
blood. Clinical trials conducted
showed that it can also protect
uninfected high-risk (both
homo and hetero-sexual)
people from acquiring the
virus, if they take the drug
daily before and after sexual
exposure.
Some public health experts
argue that allowing the drug to
be used for prevention will
foster a false sense of security
among users, leading people to
believe mistakenly that they
are immune to the virus and
reduce their use of condoms.
However, the FDA determined
that the benefits of expanding
the pool of people who may use
Truvada to protect against HIV
made it worth approving.
Here’s what you need to know.

Who can take Truvada?
The drug, made by Gilead
Sciences Inc., is approved for
healthy, uninfected people who
are at high risk of contracting
HIV through sex. These include
sex workers and people with
partners who are HIV-positive
or engage in high-risk
behaviors, such as using IV
drugs.
How effective is the drug in
preventing HIV?
In one study, healthy gay and
bisexual men who took Truvada
daily and were counseled about
safe sex practices lowered their
risk of becoming infected by up
to 42%. In another study
involving heterosexual couples
in which one partner was HIV-
positive, the uninfected partner
had a 75% lower risk of
contracting HIV if they took
Truvada.
Does Truvada cure AIDS?
No. The drug can treat people
who are infected with HIV by
lowering the amount of virus in
their bodies and slowing down
the progression of the disease.
In healthy, uninfected people,
the drug can thwart HIV’s
ability to take hold in healthy
cells and start an infection, by
blocking the activity of an
enzyme that the virus needs to
replicate.
Why is the approval
important?
Approving a drug to prevent
HIV marks a big step toward
controlling the spread of HIV
and AIDS worldwideaBOUT
tRUVADA. Once Truvada is used
as a preventive measure
domestically, U.S.-backed AIDS
programs in the developing
world may also begin to roll out
the pill for healthy people who
are at high risk of contracting
HIV. Public health experts are
eager to build up all effective
prevention strategies, noting
that the only way to stop the
epidemic is by preventing new
infections as well as treating
existing ones.

be forced to consider his options
should he no longer feel the
"affection" of the club he joined as a
youngster, though he maintained he

New Manchester United boss Van Gaal: We'll make history

Louis van Gaal has
vowed to "make
history" with
Manchester United
following his
appointment as the club's new
manager.
The Netherlands boss was announced
as David Moyes's permanent successor
on Monday and will begin his role

Van Gaal will be assisted by United

He told the club's official website: "It

incredible arena Old Trafford is and
how passionate and knowledgeable
the fans are.

Man draws out gun in club to defend his girlfriend

Monday, May 19th 2014
It was a sobering experience for a
party lover who got a gun stuck on
his neck after he was caught dancing
with another man’s girlfriend.
The man had been flirting with the
lady who together with her boyfriend
were enjoying the night out at the
popular Westlands joint and it was
after the girl’s boyfriend excused
himself to the washroom that the
two got hit the dance floor.
Her date returned only to find them
getting cozy. Unable to contain his
range, the man charged his way to
them and drew out a gun
threatening the intruder.
“Know people,” out sources quoted
the man as having warned before
grabbing the girl and taking off.

Senator Wamatangi Buys and Burns Hundreds of Nairobian Newspapers Copies After Rape Exposé

On Friday, the nation was shocked
by news that Kiambu Senator
Kimani Wamatangi had raped his
househelp. Standard Group owned
Nairobian Newspaper carried the
exclusive.
Here’s an excerpt from the report.
I will never forget July 8,
2006. It was my third day at
work as a househelp in the
Wamatangi household. I can
recall the exact time,
1.30pm, because I wanted to
watch a programme on
television. My boss
Wamatangi came home and
found his wife with me in
the sitting room.
He started quarrelling her,
demanding to know why she
didn’t go to work. I quickly
stepped out of the sitting
room and went to the
kitchen. I could hear them
quarrel in English. I could
gather that mzee was not
happy. After five minutes,
madam left for work, and I
was left in the house with
Wamatangi.
He then summoned me into
the living room and asked
me to bring him tea.
He asked me to sit down and
chat. I politely refused and
told him I prefer black tea
since I didn’t like milk. That
was the moment he pulled
me next to him and pushed
me onto the sofa.
I started screaming and he
slapped me on the face. He
then used his hand to cover
my mouth. I think my
screams must have attracted
the neighbour next door
because I heard someone
knock on the door, but they
soon left.
He forcefully removed my
panty and forced himself on
me. I cried bitterly. I had
never had sex. I was a virgin.
I was saved and a staunch
church member.
I don’t know how long it
lasted, but I just lay there,
in pain, and too shocked to
move.
Winfred Wangui
In a strange twist, Standard is
reporting that an outraged
Wamatangi issued instructions to
some unknown people to ensure
that the paper was “out of
circulation by close of business.”
That was on Friday.
“There is a vehicle buying the
current issue of The Nairobian off
the streets and the people in the
car have told vendors to deliver
more copies at Nyayo Stadium,” a
vendor told the paper.
This blurred out SUV was pictured
buying hundreds or maybe
thousands of copies, before
burning them.
“They were spotted buying copies
of The Nairobian in large
quantities within the CBD and
along Kiambu Road. Later on, we
saw them burning the papers near
a railway line in upper hill,” a
source said.
A group of men seen burning
copies of the newspaper at
Railways Upper Hill
That I must admit no one saw
coming.

Hassan Joho degree is genuine, says Kampala University VC

Kampala University Vice
Chancellor Prof Badru
Kateregga addresses the Press
at the Serena Hotel, Nairobi, on
May 18, 2014.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho
earned his degree from
Kampala University legitimately,
the institution's Vice
Chancellor has said.
Speaking to reporters in Nairobi
on Sunday, Prof Badru
Kateregga said Mr Joho
attended the university from
2009 to 2012.
“As far as Kampala University is
concerned, the degree awarded
to Mr Hassan Ali Joho is
bonafide, lawful and authentic.
(It) was genuinely awarded and
Kampala University Senate
cannot and will not recall,
revoke or cancel an award that
it deems to be valid, authentic
and genuinely awarded,” he
said.
The Uganda National Council
for Higher Education has
doubted the validity of Mr
Joho's degree.
“There was no clear evidence
that academic due process was
followed from admission to
graduation regarding a
Bachelor of Business
Administration degree (Human
Resource Management option)
awarded to Mr Hassan Ali Joho
by Kampala University,” the
council said in a resolution.
NCHE has said that Mr Joho
may not have been in Uganda
to physically undertake studies,
raising doubts about how the
university awarded him the
degree.
It was acting on the
recommendations of a
committee chaired by Mr S.H.
Nsubuga, which claimed that
Mr Joho “fraudulently obtained
the said qualifications from
Kampala University” and that
he “neither qualified for
admission to the degree
programme nor was he
subjected to the due process”.
However, Prof Kateregga
questioned the Council's
authority on the matter. “The
law does not require them to
recognise any degree. The duty
of National councils is to
accredit programmes, once the
programmes have been
accredited; the question of
degree awarding is the
question of university senate,”
he said.
The Constitution requires a
governor to be a degree holder.

Do you feel as though you are invisible and taken for granted? WORK IT OUT

When you speak all the time,
people tend to switch off and
ignore what you are saying. You are
considered a noisemaker and
loudmouth who is not quite taken
seriously.

Do you feel as though you are
invisible and taken for granted?
Do you sometimes find yourself
stagnating and feel as if you are
going nowhere fast in all areas of
your life? It may be time to
regroup and think about how to up
your game.

Some of the most practical ways to
do this include making subtle
changes to your etiquette. These
ways do not cost a penny and may
be implemented almost overnight.
They do not involve any
psychoanalysis and other long and
drawn out methods. Here are
some ways to help transform you
from mediocre to sought-after star.
1. Stop talking too much: When
you speak all the time, people
tend to switch off and ignore
what you are saying. You are
considered a noisemaker and
loudmouth who is not quite
taken seriously. Maybe some of
the things you say are
ridiculous, or perhaps you take
jokes too far, especially when
you have had one too many to
drink.
2. Become unavailable : Rare
commodities acquire greater
value. If you are always around
when people call you or need
you, it is easy for you to be
taken for granted. Maybe you
are too eager to please others
and find yourself being
misused as an odd-job person.
This sort of reputation makes
people think you are a
doormat. Try making yourself
scarce for a while and see how
reactions start changing.
3. Change your demeanor: If
you always show up with
overly humble and apologetic
gestures and puppy dog eyes,
people may devalue you. This
especially applies to women
who desperately want to get
into a relationship. The minute
you show a little bit of attitude,
you become a challenge to
other people and they start
becoming more respectful of
you.
4. Learn to intimidate: There are
times when people ought to
fear you, and not think that you
are simply too nice all the
time. It starts with your
dressing: wear a black skirt,
black heels and stockings and a
matching top. Maintain a
straight, no-nonsense face and
steady eye contact. Smile only
when necessary and use as few
words in low tones as possible
to communicate. You will be
surprised at the reaction of
others, as they are taken aback
5. Do a disappearing act for a
while : The old saying that
“familiarity breeds contempt”
could imply that if you are
around certain people, all the
time, it is possible to become
contemptuous to them. If you
sense that your presence has
become too much, it is time to
do a disappearing act. Leave
town to undertake some
studies, or if you can afford it,
travel to another country.
While you are away, resist the
temptation to call or
communicate frequently. When
you return, you will most likely
be received with fresh eyes.
6. Be an enigma: Increase your
personal ratings by being
mysterious. Allow people to
ponder about you. You can do
this by minimising self-
disclosure.

Two held over murder of albino in Tanzania, Gasuma

"Albinism is associated with a
number of vision defects, such as
photophobia, nystagmus and
astigmatism. Lack of skin
pigmentation makes for more
susceptibility to sunburn and skin
cancers. "
  -Toboa siri

Two witch doctors in Tanzania
have been arrested after a woman
with albinism was hacked to death,
police said. One of her legs and
several fingers were removed in
the attack on Tuesday.
Albinos have suffered widespread
persecution in Tanzania, where
witch doctors say magic potions
made with albino body parts can
bring good luck.
Such killings have declined in
recent years, but this latest attack
has prompted a human rights
group to call for all witch doctors
to be banned.
At a press conference, the group,
Under the Same Sun, said the
current regulation of witch doctors
was clearly not working.
Currently, all witch doctors have to
apply for a certificate from the
ministry of health and welfare to
practise.
The attack occurred in the village
of Gasuma, in Simiyu province, a
remote rural area in the northwest
of the country where there have
been killings of albinos before.
TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED
The woman’s left leg, two fingers
from her left hand and a nail from
one of the thumbs were removed.
According to Under the Same Sun,
which campaigns against the
discrimination of people living with
albinism, the last killing of an
albino in Tanzania was in February
2013.
Charles Mkumbo, police chief of
the Simiyu region in northwestern
Tanzania, said a man and a
woman, Gudawa Yalema and Shiwa
Masalu, had been arrested.
In Tanzania, albinos are killed and
dismembered due to a widespread
belief that charms made from their
body parts bring good fortune and
prosperity.
‘Witch doctors tell their clients
that the skin, hair, blood and
organs of persons with albinism
when combined with their magic
potions guarantee success, wealth
and election victory,’ the group
said in a statement.

Harambee stars host Comoros at the Nyayo National Stadium today.

Harambee Stars will on Sunday
embark on a long route to the 2015
African Cup of Nations finals when
they host the lowly ranked
Comoros at the Nyayo National
Stadium in the first encounter of a
two-leg preliminary phase tie.
The last time Stars made an
appearance at the continental
showpiece was way back in 2004
under the tutelage of former
coach-turned-television pundit
Jacob ’Ghost’ Mulee.
Since then, the team’s successive
attempts to earn a ticket to
Africa’s premier football
competition have ended in
heartbreak.
When Stars last took part in the
competition, the squad was a
blend of youth and experience with
former long-serving skipper Musa
Otieno, Mike Okoth, Robert Mambo
and custodian Francis Onyiso
forming the spine of the team.
Also in the squad was a
sensational teenager by the name
Dennis Oliech who had just
announced his arrival on the big
stage.
Ten years on, as the team begins a
journey whose destination is
Morocco their aim is to make up
for past failures.
BIG NAMES
The current squad boasts of a
number of big names including
team captain Victor Wanyama,
MacDonald Mariga and Dennis
Oliech, all of whom bring a wealth
of experience into the team.
For Oliech and Duncan Ochieng,
the only survivors from the 2004
squad, the campaign presents an
opportunity to take another bite at
the cherry while the returning
Mariga desires to make his debut
at the Nations Cup.
“I have been away from the team
for too long, but what is important
is to put our heads together and
make our country proud. I am glad
to be back and I want to give my
best,” said Mariga.
National duty
The Inter Milan midfielder, who
has been sidelined with injury for
nearly two years, will be playing
alongside his younger sibling
Wanyama and Oliech for the first
time since October 2011.
Other foreign-based players
scattered in various leagues abroad
have likewise responded to the
call of national duty by diligently
trooping to camp.
Latest arrival Lawrence Olum
believes success at this stage
would provide the team with the
much needed morale boost going
forward into the campaign.
POSITIVE START
The midfielder, who plays for
Sporting Kansas City in Major
League Soccer in the United States,
said whichever player takes to the
field today will have only one thing
in his mind - victory.
“On paper it looks like we are the
favourites in this match, but we
still have a job to do and make
that statistic count. I want to
assure Kenyans that we will do
our part to conjure up a win, so let
them show patriotism by coming
out to support us tomorrow
(today),” Olum said Saturday when
the team was hosted to a luncheon
at a city hotel by the football
governing body in the country.
Indeed, Olum, who earlier in the
week risked missing to report to
camp, demonstrated his
commitment to the team by
purchasing his own air ticket
following local football authorities’
failure to send him tickets on
time.
“It is always an honour to
represent the country and when I
was called up I had to stand up for
my country with or without
receiving the air tickets,” he said.
Former team captain Oliech
stressed the need for a positive
start to the campaign for them to
build momentum.
“We do not know much about our
opponents (Comoros) but what is
important is to have a good start
and reach the group stages. We
want to qualify and for us to have
a chance we must work hard,”
Oliech said.
THE OPPOSITION
Stars coach Adel Amrouche echoed
his players’ ambition but warned
them against underrating the
opposition.
“We have said it time and again
that we need to improve. The time
has come to walk the talk because
this is about the country. If we
reach next year’s Africa Cup of
Nations, then the whole country
will have achieved something. That
is our goal,” Amrouche said.
During the luncheon, the team
received Sh1 million in cash for
their allowances.
Although the islanders are ranked
at a lowly position 184, 78 slots
behind Kenya and have not won a
major title, Harambee Stars will be
wary of the unfancied opposition.
If Kenya manages an aggregate
win over Comoros they will face
either Lesotho or Liberia in the
next round of the qualifiers with
the winner advancing to the group
stage where Angola, Gabon and
Burkina Faso lie in wait.
'CLEAN SHEET'
Meanwhile, Comoros coach Amir
Abdou said they will not be cowed
by the big names in the Kenyan
team.
“They (Harambee Stars) have very
good players such as Dennis Oliech
who I have followed for long in
France, but we are here to fight
and give our best,” Abdou said.
“I have assembled a very good
side capable of doing well against
any team. We are fully focused on
Sunday’s (today) match. We want
to do well against a very strong
side. Our goal is to keep a clean
sheet in Nairobi,” he added.
Needless to say, the hopes of 40
million plus Kenyans rest on the
shoulders of Wanyama and his
team mates.
Abdou will be counting on his
skipper Najim Abdou, who turns
out for Millwall FC in the English
second tier league to lead his side
against Harambee Stars.
“My players can cope with the
intimidating atmosphere that we
expect to receive from the home
fans. Playing away from home is
always very tricky, but my boys
are psychologically prepared for
the match.”

Harambee stars host Comoros at the Nyayo National Stadium today.

Harambee Stars will on Sunday
embark on a long route to the 2015
African Cup of Nations finals when
they host the lowly ranked
Comoros at the Nyayo National
Stadium in the first encounter of a
two-leg preliminary phase tie.
The last time Stars made an
appearance at the continental
showpiece was way back in 2004
under the tutelage of former
coach-turned-television pundit
Jacob ’Ghost’ Mulee.
Since then, the team’s successive
attempts to earn a ticket to
Africa’s premier football
competition have ended in
heartbreak.
When Stars last took part in the
competition, the squad was a
blend of youth and experience with
former long-serving skipper Musa
Otieno, Mike Okoth, Robert Mambo
and custodian Francis Onyiso
forming the spine of the team.
Also in the squad was a
sensational teenager by the name
Dennis Oliech who had just
announced his arrival on the big
stage.
Ten years on, as the team begins a
journey whose destination is
Morocco their aim is to make up
for past failures.
BIG NAMES
The current squad boasts of a
number of big names including
team captain Victor Wanyama,
MacDonald Mariga and Dennis
Oliech, all of whom bring a wealth
of experience into the team.
For Oliech and Duncan Ochieng,
the only survivors from the 2004
squad, the campaign presents an
opportunity to take another bite at
the cherry while the returning
Mariga desires to make his debut
at the Nations Cup.
“I have been away from the team
for too long, but what is important
is to put our heads together and
make our country proud. I am glad
to be back and I want to give my
best,” said Mariga.
National duty
The Inter Milan midfielder, who
has been sidelined with injury for
nearly two years, will be playing
alongside his younger sibling
Wanyama and Oliech for the first
time since October 2011.
Other foreign-based players
scattered in various leagues abroad
have likewise responded to the
call of national duty by diligently
trooping to camp.
Latest arrival Lawrence Olum
believes success at this stage
would provide the team with the
much needed morale boost going
forward into the campaign.
POSITIVE START
The midfielder, who plays for
Sporting Kansas City in Major
League Soccer in the United States,
said whichever player takes to the
field today will have only one thing
in his mind - victory.
“On paper it looks like we are the
favourites in this match, but we
still have a job to do and make
that statistic count. I want to
assure Kenyans that we will do
our part to conjure up a win, so let
them show patriotism by coming
out to support us tomorrow
(today),” Olum said Saturday when
the team was hosted to a luncheon
at a city hotel by the football
governing body in the country.
Indeed, Olum, who earlier in the
week risked missing to report to
camp, demonstrated his
commitment to the team by
purchasing his own air ticket
following local football authorities’
failure to send him tickets on
time.
“It is always an honour to
represent the country and when I
was called up I had to stand up for
my country with or without
receiving the air tickets,” he said.
Former team captain Oliech
stressed the need for a positive
start to the campaign for them to
build momentum.
“We do not know much about our
opponents (Comoros) but what is
important is to have a good start
and reach the group stages. We
want to qualify and for us to have
a chance we must work hard,”
Oliech said.
THE OPPOSITION
Stars coach Adel Amrouche echoed
his players’ ambition but warned
them against underrating the
opposition.
“We have said it time and again
that we need to improve. The time
has come to walk the talk because
this is about the country. If we
reach next year’s Africa Cup of
Nations, then the whole country
will have achieved something. That
is our goal,” Amrouche said.
During the luncheon, the team
received Sh1 million in cash for
their allowances.
Although the islanders are ranked

Robben, Mueller strike as Bayern win German Cup

image

Arjen Robben and Thomas Mueller
scored extra-time goals as Bayern
Munich won the German Cup with
a 2-0 victory over rivals Borussia
Dortmund on Saturday.
After the first 90 minutes finished
goalless, Robben broke the drought
in the 107th-minute before Mueller
added a second in time added-on.
Coach Pep Guardiola finishes his
first season in charge of Bayern
with four trophies having already
won the Bundesliga title, Club
World Cup and UEFA Super Cup.
Bayern won the German Cup for a
record 17th time to claim the
domestic league and cup double --
the Champions League was the
only title to evade the Bavarian
giants this season.
Having also scored the late winner
in the 2013 Champions League
final against Dortmund at
Wembley, Netherlands winger
Robben again broke Dortmund
hearts.
And there was no fairytale finish
for Poland striker Robert
Lewandowski who had promised to
finish his four years at Dortmund
by lifting the cup before joining
Bayern next season.
This was the fourth and final time
Germany's top two sides met this
season with both sides finishing
with two wins a piece.
But it was a nervy, tense affair in
front of a 71,967 crowd at Berlin's
sold-out Olympic Stadium which
also included Hollywood star Tom
Hanks who is filming 'A Hologram
for the King' in Germany's capital.
Bayern were forced into a late
change when Austria left-back
David Alaba dropped out with a
stomach muscle injury and Brazil's
Rafinha slotted into his place.
Munich were already without
defensive midfielder Bastian
Schweinsteiger, ruled out with a
knee injury while striker Mario
Mandzukic having been dropped.
Guardiola opted to play a new
3-4-3 system and included 18-year-
old midfielder Pierre-Emile
Hoejbjerg, who was making only
his 11th first team appearance.
Dortmund were at near full
strength with Lewandowski
making his final appearance in the
yellow-black shirt.
Bayern made a bright start as
Mueller and Robben both forced
Dortmund captain and goalkeeper
Roman Weidenfeller into early
saves.
LAHM LEG INJURY
There were worrying scenes ahead
of next month's World Cup in
Brazil when Bayern's Germany
captain Philipp Lahm limped off
with half an hour gone to be
replaced by Franck Ribery.
The Bayern bench said Lahm had
taken a knock to the fibula, but it
was not serious and he is expected
to join the Germany training camp
which starts on Wednesday.
Hoejbjerg squandered a great
chance with half-time approaching
when he fired wide from the
penalty area after being left
unmarked.
At the other end, Lewandowski
cannoned his shot over the bar
moments later.
Both teams had clear chances in
the second half as Mueller's shot
at point-blank range was
smothered by Weidenfeller on 56
minutes.
And at the other end, Dortmund
defender Mats Hummels' header
was saved off the line on 64
minutes by Bayern's Dante.
After the game went to extra-time,
Robben broke the drought when
he fired home at the near post
from five metres out.
Mueller then took advantage of
tired Dortmund legs when he held
off Germany team-mate Marcel
Schmelzer and rounded
Weidenfeller just before the final
whistle as Bayern defended their
cup title.

Arsenal's FA Cup win in 2005 represents the last major trophy won by the Gunners

l
Ramsey's extra-time winner
ensured Arsenal ended their nine-year wait for a trophy as they came from two goals behind.
Giroud wasn't.
Missing in action were the two Germany stars: Ozil and
Podolski.
Lukas Podolski hasn't even got
that excuse. An extremely poor
display from a man with 112
international caps. Not good
enough.
A number of penalty appeals were turned down.
Luck always plays a part but on
another day Wenger's men could
have had not one, not two but
three penalties awarded.
Giroud and Cazorla were felled
on two separate occasions while
Jake Livermore seemed to
handle the ball in the box in
between.
When your opponent has an off
day you have to capitalise and
the Tigers did that at Wembley.
The blistering start left the
Gunners floundering and they
defended for their lives
thereafter.
Regardless of the result they
certainly didn't look like a team
just one year removed from the
Championship.
They were a credit to their city
and the legion of orange and
black who travelled the length
of the country to roar them on.
Ramsey proved
why he's now Arsenal's top
gun.
Ramsey proved
why he's now Arsenal's top
gun.
Ramsey is now, without doubt
the Gunners' best player and he
showed why on the biggest
stage.

US condemns Gikomba attacks

The _United States_ on
Friday condemned twin bomb
attacks in the Kenyan capital
Nairobi blamed on Islamic
militants that killed at least 10
people and wounded at 70 more.
"The United States condemns
today's despicable terrorist
attacks," said National Security
Council spokeswoman Caitlin
Hayden.
"This is the latest in a series of
cowardly attacks on innocent
civilians in Kenya," she said,
offering thoughts and prayers to
the families of the victims.
"As we have for half a century, the
United States stands with our
Kenyan friends and partners who
continue to face adversity with
courage and resolve," Hayden
added.
"We support them in their efforts
to confront terrorism in all of its
forms."
Kenya's National Disaster
Operation Center said the first
blast occurred next to a 14-seater
public minibus while the second
was inside a shop in a market
close to Nairobi's central business
district.
Earlier this month, three people
were killed and 86 wounded in
twin bus blasts in Nairobi blamed
on Islamic militant cells
connected with Somalia's Al-
Qaeda
-linked Shebab rebels. The
previous day, twin attacks left four
dead in Mombasa.

Manchester City fined €60m

Kiboko nayoo....
Manchester City fined €60m by Uefa for breaching FFP regulations.

Manuel Pellegrini's squad for next
season's Champions League has
been restricted to 21 players, while
the club have agreed to significantly
reduce their transfer spend
Manchester City have been fined €60
million [£49m] by Uefa and will see
their squad reduced to 21
players for next season’s Champions
League for breaching Financial Fair
Play regulations.
The club's €60m fine will be
withheld from the Champions
League revenue generated from this
season and next term, while €40m
[£32.5m] has been suspended and
will be returned to City if they
comply with the financial measures
set by Uefa.
City, who have accepted the
sanctions from Uefa, have also
agreed to "significantly limit
spending in the transfer market for
seasons 2014/2015 and 2015/2016"
and will limit their net spend in this
summer's window to €60m.
City insist the spending limit on new
players "will have no material
impact on the club’s planned
transfer activity".
Despite posting figures outside the
financial regulations, City maintain
their wage bill will remain the same
next season but claim there will be
a “natural decline” after that period.
City revealed in a statement that
they are now break even and will be
profitable next season.
Uefa confirms that if the club meet
their break-even target, the 21-man
squad restriction will be lifted for
the 2015/16 campaign.
As well as City, Paris Saint-Germain,
Zenit St Petersburg, Rubin Kazan,
Anzhi Makhachkala, Galatasaray,
Bursaspor, Trabzonspor and Levski
Sofia all failed to meet FFP
regulations and have been
sanctioned.

KIAMBU SENATOR RAPED ME: BROKE MY P*SSY N POURED INSYD3!!!

Kiambu Senator fired me after he
raped me, says former househelp
Updated Friday, May 16th 2014

I will never forget July 8, 2006. It
was my third day at work as a
househelp in the Wamatangi
household. I can recall the exact
time, 1.30pm, because I wanted
to watch a programme on
television. My boss Wamatangi
came home and found his wife
with me in the sitting room.
He started quarrelling her,
demanding to know why she
didn’t go to work. I quickly
stepped out of the sitting room
and went to the kitchen. I could
hear them quarrel in English. I
could gather that mzee was not
happy. After five minutes, madam
left for work, and I was left in the
house with Wamatangi.
He then summoned me into the
living room and asked me to bring
him tea.
He asked me to sit down and
chat. I politely refused and told
him I prefer black tea since I
didn’t like milk. That was the
moment he pulled me next to him
and pushed me onto the sofa.
I started screaming and he
slapped me on the face. He then
used his hand to cover my mouth.
I think my screams must have
attracted the neighbour next door
because I heard someone knock
on the door, but they soon left.
He forcefully removed my panty
and forced himself on me. I cried
bitterly. I had never had sex. I
was a virgin. I was saved and a
staunch church member.
I don’t know how long it lasted,
but I just lay there, in pain, and
too shocked to move.
When he finished, he dragged me
to my feet and ordered me to
wash myself. I showered as he
stood by the door, looking at me,
only wearing his shirt and socks.
He warned me not to reveal what
happened to anybody. He said he
would call the police and tell
them to lock me up if I dared.
How was I to know that one
should never shower after a rape
ordeal? I dropped out of school in
class eight for lack of school fees.
My father died when I was very
young, and my mother is a
peasant farmer.
Wamatangi is a millionaire, the
richest man in my village, and has
connections with ‘big’ people. I
was too scared.
Too scared to talk
I took my shame, and hid in the
bedroom where I stayed until
madam came in the evening. I
didn’t tell madam since mzee was
also around, and I was afraid of
him.
The next day, I went and told our
neighbour, who invited madam
and told her. Madam was not
shocked. She told me there was
nothing she could do, and that
her hands were ‘tied’. The
neighbour convinced madam to
tell mzee to take me to hospital
‘ili nisafishwe.’
It took madam three days to
gather courage to ask her
husband to take me to hospital.
He agreed but when we reached
Nairobi Women’s Hospital gate, he
told us to get out of his car and
threw Sh1,200 on the ground,
warning me to never step in his
house again. He fired me right
outside the hospital gate and
sped off. After one week, my
greatest fear was confirmed. I had
missed my periods.
On April 23, 2007, I gave birth to
a baby girl at Nazareth Hospital.
It was when the baby was two
months old, that Wamatangi came
to see his daughter.
He gave me Sh7,000. He never
came to see the child again, or
offer any financial support. I went
to the children’s office at Nyayo
House where they wrote a letter to
him. After two weeks, I went back.
The gentleman at the children’s
welfare office in Nyayo House told
me they could not help me. I
didn’t lose hope and mid July
2007, I went to Fida (Federation of
Women Lawyers – Kenya). They
wrote a letter, which was delivered
to Wamatangi.
In August, I went back to Fida
and the director (she died a few
weeks back after thugs attacked
her and raped her two daughters)
told me pointblank that she could
do nothing. She then took my
papers and tore them into pieces.
She told me, “Lazima uongee
mzuri na mzee. Hakuna kitu
unaweza mfanyia (You have to be
polite with the old man. You can
do nothing to him).”
Towards the end of 2007,
Wamatangi was running for a
parliamentary seat. He came
home to my mother, and gave her
Sh20,000 promising to cater for
his daughter’s upkeep.
But he lost the elections.
Allowed me in his bazaar
He again went silent and in May
2008, I decided to visit his office
near Nyayo Stadium where he has
a car bazaar. He kept me waiting
the whole day then around 3pm,
called me to the conference room.
See Also: Senator Wamatangi
abandoned our child: Former
househelp
He summoned all his employees
and warned them to never allow
me near his office.
He threatened to fire anyone who
allowed me to his bazaar. He
hurled abuses at me as his
employees watched. I started
crying and he dragged me out
and threw me out the gate. I was
carrying my daughter who was
also crying. One employee was
touched and gave me bus fare.

How This One Trick Could Transform Your Body

Reading about sports these days, we
are constantly bombarded with news
of top notch athletes being exposed
for using illegal steroids.
Steroid use involves huge costs,
legal issues, and above all, potential
health problems. With such risks,
you wonder why anyone would be
tempted to go this route.
Fortunately, steroid use may
eventually be a thing of the past.
That’s because medical researchers
studying how the human body
builds muscle and endurance are
developing safe and legal substances
which can increase the body's ability
to build muscle, without the health
risks associated with steroids.
One of the most interesting fields of
research surrounds a naturally
occurring chemical compound called
nitric oxide. Nitric oxide is a
vasodilator, which means it helps
move oxygen to the muscles when
they need it most. Increased nitric
oxide in the blood stream signals
the blood vessel walls to relax, which
allows more blood to flow to the
body's muscles, thus delivering more
oxygen and nutrients throughout the
body.
It’s been shown to lead to:
Drastic Muscle Gains
Increased Blood Flow and Oxygen
Delivery
Boosted Strength, Endurance, and
Power
Support for Your Immune System
Immediate Results
Total Body Transformation
While the body naturally increases
nitric oxide during workouts, it’s
only a limited amount and
researchers have been focused on
artificially increasing your nitric
oxide levels.
One of the most successful products
that has emerged from this research
is called Factor 2 . It uses
"arginines," special amino acids
specifically linked to nitric oxide
production to significantly increase
oxygen and nutrient flow to the
muscles during workouts. As a
result, it can safely spark powerful
muscle growth, muscle definition,
and strength.
Factor 2 produces noticeable results
by maximizing your muscle gains as
you power through your workouts
and within a few weeks, users are
starting to notice additional muscle
definition and strength.
Factor 2 is now the recognized
leader in nitric oxide stimulation
and legal, safe muscle and strength
enhancement.

5 Weird Reasons You’re Still Broke & How to Fix Them… Kusota nayo....

I’m sorry to say that I’ve always felt like most of the personal finance advice on the internet seems to be lacking in reality.
I love people like
Suze Orman and
Dave Ramsey, but
the idea that
cutting out
Starbucks from my
budget is going to
magically make me a millionaire is
ridiculous. When I was rolling
pennies to pay my rent, you can bet
your ass I wasn’t thinking about
Starbucks.
I’ve since fixed my broken budget
and I’m well on my way to saving for
a prosperous retirement, but I
didn’t get there with
the normal financial advice
out there. Here are the 5 weird
reasons I was broke and how you can
keep from making the same
mistake…

1. Your Money is Too Accessible
There was a time when I sucked at
managing money so much that I had
to hide my savings from myself.
How’s that for will power?
And I know I’m not alone here.
I had a decent job, but it seemed
that every time I would get a little
extra in my checking account, I’d
promptly buy something ridiculous.
(“Why, yes I do need to order that
“Perfect Bacon Bowl” contraption I
saw on last night’s infomercial” or “I
guess I should go ahead and buy
these jeans. The sale ends on
Sunday, after all” ). Ridiculous.

2. You’re Working Too
Many Jobs
I know a lot of our readers are
working 2 or 3 jobs and still aren’t
able to make ends meet. You’re not
alone.
Instead of focusing on how to find a
4th or 5th job, start thinking about
ways to boost income
passively. Income that doesn’t
require you to work a ton of
additional hours.
Obviously most types of passive
income require you to have a
huge investment, but there are also
little things you can do to make
money.

3. You’ve Cut Up Your
Credit Cards or Frozen

Eto'o: Mourinho is a fool for calling me old

The coach appeared to poke fun at
the Cameroon international's age
earlier in the season and he has
now slammed the Portuguese, with
his contract at the club having
expired
Samuel Eto'o has labelled Jose
Mourinho a "fool" after the Chelsea
boss questioned the veracity of his
official age earlier in the season.
Mourinho was unwittingly caught on
camera lamenting the quality of the
strikers at his disposal at a sponsors'
event in Switzerland in February, and
jokingly suggested that Eto'o could
be older than he claims to be.
The now-33-year-old appeared to
react in jest by celebrating his next
Chelsea goal by holding his back in
false pain, aping the manner of a
geriatric.
However, Eto'o - who is now out of
contract at Stamford Bridge - has
blasted Mourinho for his comments,
while also insisting that he can
continue playing at the highest level
for the foreseeable future.
"Today, I am 33-years-old - and it is
not because a fool called me an old
man that you must believe it," the
Cameroonian said.
"And you may have noticed that the
old man was better than the
youngsters. Some believe I am going
to retire in the United States or in
the Middle East, but I have regained
the joy of the Champions League
and I am going to carry on playing in
the Champions League.
"Where? I am not going to tell you."
Eto'o is set to feature at his fourth
World Cup for Cameroon next month,
and the four-time African Player of
the Year feels he could go on and
break Lothar Matthaus' and Antonio
Carbajal's record of playing at five
World Cups.
"I am going to carry on playing
because physically and mentally I
feel great," he added.
"So I am going to go to this World
Cup and to the next one when I will
be 37. Some did it at 42, so I can
still play at two more World Cups."

'Now all of them love me' - Boateng revels in return to Ghana fold

The Schalke midfielder says he has
made peace with the "critical"
Ghanaian press and plans to build a
school in his father’s hometown of
Kumasi to "get closer to the people"
Schalke midfielder Kevin-Prince
Boateng believes that he has
mended the strained relationship
between him and Ghana following
his controversial international
retirement in 2011.
Boateng was an instant hero in
Ghana following his exploits in the
2020 World Cup - including a goal
against USA - but the nation felt a
sense of betrayal when he failed to
turn up for subsequent international
games on perceived health grounds
before bowing out of the team three
years ago.
The Germany-born player reversed
his decision to retire in 2013 just in
time for another World Cup and,
with a goal in his comeback game
against Egypt in the playoff to reach
Brazil, he believes he has won back
the hearts of the country.
"It was critically spoken of," the 27-
year-old told Goal of his retirement.
"The press in Ghana is even worse
than in Germany. They are very
critical but after my goal in Egypt I
was hailed, and now all of them love
me. Now the World Cup is here, they
know they need me and that's why
we are an amorous couple again."
Touching on his return to the Black
Stars set-up, he said: "I was received
very well. I made a lot of calls with
Asamoah Gyan, our skipper, our
coach, our president. They all said
they waited for my return. They were
all glad and happy that I am back
again."
The former AC Milan midfielder also
spoke about his plans to build a
school in Kumasi - Ghana's second-
largest city and his father's home
town - in order to strengthen the
bond with the local support.
"I have my family there, from my
father's side. I am on the phone
with my uncle regularly. I want to
build a school in the area where my
father has been born in Kumasi. I
am doing that all alone with my
fiancee. I am trying to get closer [to
the people]," he explained.
"People are happy in Ghana. That's
what always astonishes me, there
are a lot of people that don't have
much but are happy nevertheless.
It's just nice to see how the people
are dancing on the streets, how they
celebrate. They are just always
happy.
"If you walk around in Germany you
see people with their heads down,
though they are so rich, not only in
terms of money but in terms of
everything. And then you see the
people in Ghana and see that they
are happy."
The Ghana international is part of
the provisional 26-man squad named
by coach Kwesi Appiah for the World
Cup this summer.

Argentina squad primed to deliver at World Cup 2014

The scintillating form of Lionel
Messi and the steady hand of
coach Alejandro Sabella have left
many believing that Argentina are
ready to end their long wait for a
third World Cup crown.
The South American giants have
regularly been favourites heading
to recent World Cup finals, only to
wilt under pressure once the
action starts.
Successive squads bristling with
world-class talent have rarely
delivered, meaning that 28 long
years have passed since a Diego
Maradona-inspired Argentina last
lifted the trophy, in Mexico in
1986.
Yet there are several signs that
this year it could be different.
In stark contrast to their turbulent
qualifying campaign for the 2010
tournament under Maradona's
management, when they only just
got one of the automatic places in
South Africa, Argentina waltzed
through the qualifying competition
for Brazil.
They booked their place with two
matches to spare, destroying
Paraguay 5-2 away in Asuncion
with a display of attacking football
that will serve as a warning to
Group F opponents Iran, African
champions Nigeria and debutants
Bosnia-Hercegovina.
Key to Argentina's path to the
finals was the form of Barcelona
star Messi, revelling in the
captaincy role handed to him by
Sabella after the wily former
Estudiantes coach's appointment in
2011.
Messi was Argentina's top-scorer
in qualifying, notching 10 goals in
14 games, suggesting that the 26-
year-old maestro has finally nailed
suggestions he is unable to
reproduce his club form in the
international arena.
Messi's club form of late has not
been great, and he has been
hampered by injuries over the last
12 months, but his burgeoning
form at international level is a
testament to the faith that Sabella
has placed in his captain.
Unlike Maradona who
unbalanced Argentina's attack at
the last World Cup with the
inclusion of striker Carlos Tevez

Sabella has built his side entirely
around Messi.
"We need to make him feel
comfortable and think about
what's best for the team," Sabella
has said of Messi. "And what's
best for the team is, first and
foremost, to make him feel
comfortable."
As a result, Tevez has not featured
for his country since the 2011 Copa
America, when Argentina bowed
out in the quarter-finals to
Uruguay.
However, La Albiceleste are
anything but a one-man band.
Sabella's squad contains several
stars who would walk into most
other starting XIs at the World
Cup, such as Napoli striker
Gonzalo Higuain, Manchester City
duo Sergio Aguero and Pablo
Zabaleta, Barcelona defender-cum-
midfielder Javier Mascherano and
Real Madrid winger Angel Di
Maria.
Perhaps crucially, Argentina's team
also contains a core of players who
won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup
in 2005.
Messi, Zabaleta, Ageuro and
midfielder Fernando Gago were
among those who featured in that
triumph, fostering a tightly knit
team spirit that could prove the
difference in Brazil.
"At the national team we have a
solid group of friends," said Messi
recently. "Some of us have known
each other since we were little
kids. That's something good."
