KBL to introduce a low-priced brand in the market, to counter illicit brews.

Kenya: Battle for a share of the low- end alcohol market is set to go a notch higher. This follows plan by Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) to introduce a low-priced brand in the market, to counter illicit brews. While there is a ban on spirits sold in sachets, most of these brands have surfaced in rural areas where business is booming.

Paul pogba scores against Nigeria, France 1 - Nigeria 0, Quarter Finals

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has
thanked his club for enabling him
to make his debut with the France
national team.
The youngster, who turned 20 last
week, earned his first call-up in
France’s World Cup this year 2014.
France and
Nigeria engaged in a spirited
match in the 2014 World Cup
Round of 16 that saw the France almost loosing it, only at the 75th minute as paul pogba secured a goal by scoring for France from a corner reach.
Nigeria led the first half by thrusting on France but guess what, they were denied one penalty and there were many fouls that the referee assumed, in favour of France.
Were it not that, Nigeria could have won amazingly.

Fast and Furious 8, Paul Walker’s younger brother, Cody Walker

Fast and Furious 8 could star Paul
Walker’s younger brother, Cody
Walker, according to reports.
After the tragic death of one of the
franchise’s biggest stars the studio
went into a spiral as Fast and
Furious 7 was far from complete.
With reports of lookalikes and CGI to
replace Walker’s character Brian
O’Conner, it wasn’t until news of
Walker’s brother’s Cody and Caleb -
who look very similar to the late star
- that fans were certain the film
would still be released.
The latest report is that Paul’s
younger brother Cody will step in
and continue with the franchise, for
at least the next instalment.
According to MoviePilot.com, media
analyst Paul Dergarabedian says if
Cody “does a great job and is well
received by audiences in this newly
conceived role, then who better to
carry on the Walker tradition than
his brother …when its a family
member who fills in, it seems to
soften any criticism that could
develop.”
Fast and Furious 7 star Ludacris, who
plays Tej Parker in the series,
confirmed that the late star’s
bothers Caleb and Cody will be
filling in.

LADIES, This will be your childs name, MAPENZI NAYO.....!! Shukuru umezaa

The safe period refers to the
window period where a woman is
less likely to get pregnant if they
have unprotected intercourse.
Technically speaking, this safe
period falls between day 1-7 of the
period and Day 19 to the start of
the next cycle
The normal woman’s menstrual
cycle is supposed to last 28 days.
Of these only days 8 to 19 are
considered fertile i.e. a woman is
likely to have a baby through
unprotected intercourse, all other
days are safe. The cycle is
considered to begin with the first
day of bleeding and ends when
the bleeding starts again.
Opting to have sex during the ‘safe
period’ isn’t fool-proof though. A
lot of women have irregular cycles
and the cycle length can vary from
women to women. That’s why the
so-called ‘safe period’ is in truth
not that safe and it’s better to use
condoms or other contraceptive
methods like the oral pill to
prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Never give up!! Its real

Suicide isn't the easy way out as
many people think. It doesn't mean
that you're weak if you commit
suicide. There's nothing even
remotely easy about suicide.
Do you really think that it is so easy
to fight every natural instinct in your
body that tells you to survive?
Do you really think it's east to come
to the decision that ultimately, it
would be better if you were dead?
Better for you, your friends and
family?
When you're suicidal you consider
everything. You consider what would
bring your loved ones pain. That's
why you hold off for so long. Because
you can't hurt the ones you care
about the most. That's why you try
as hard as you can.
But sometimes you really want to
end all this. The suffering and the
pain.
Suicide doesn't happen for
something stupid. People who
commit suicide just because they're
having a bad day or just because
their boyfriend / girlfriend dumped
them, are stupid.
Suicide is because everything is
overwhelming. It's because you lost
all hope and you can't see any light
in your life anymore. It's when your
vision is surrounded by the
darkness.
There are people who dare to do it...
They jump from a building or in
front of a train... Some of them cut
or hang.
What am I trying to say all this
time? I'm trying to ask just a simple
thing... Why? How does that even
help in the slightest? How does
hurting yourself help?
You're only acting? No? You're
bringing more pain to yourself!!
Listen to me...
There's so much more in this life
than what you're feeling now. All
you have to do, is to stay strong for
just a little bit more. Eventually,
you'll make it through.
How do I know? I've seen many
people going through that... I've had
many friends suffering from that.
Me, myself, I'm still going through
that. We all get low at times, and we
really wish to die...
But listen to me. It's not worth it.
Happiness is not away. You'll never
be truly alone and you'll never be
sad forever. I know that for a fact.
That doesn't mean that you won't
have bad days. We all have bad
days. And I don't think that will ever
change. It's how life works. We get
hurt to get stronger. No one ever
said that life is easy. But indeed life
is meant to be lived. We are going
through a lot and yet still, there is
so much more to come. But you have
to stay strong. You have to keep
fighting. If you are strong enough to
contemplate suicide, you sure are
strong enough to fight on.
You're not alone in this. You'll never
be. We stand together and we fight
together.
Instead of taking the blade every
time you're feeling low, take a
pillow. Shove your face into the
pillow and cry. Cry until you have no
more tears. Why? Because crying
helps. Many people say that crying
proves you're weak. They're wrong.
Crying doesn't mean you're weak, it
means you were strong for too long.
And now it's finally the time to let
go of that. To give in your fears and
fight! You don't have to keep it
inside you anymore. You can open
your eyes now. You can wipe away
your tears. It's over.
You won this battle. Smile. You did
it. You're strong. Now stay that way.
Don't you ever give up.
Don't you ever lose hope. Keep on
looking forward because better days
are coming. One day, you'll look
back on these days and you'll laugh.
I promise you that things will get
better. Whenever that's sooner or
later. You just have to believe it.
Don't think too much...
Thinking is stealing your happiness.
Be happy. Do whatever you want.
Enjoy your life. Don't you ever give
up. Never. We stand together till the
end of the line.
Thank you for reading all this. I
really pray that it helped you.
Have a beautiful day and keep on
smiling.
Better days are coming. I promise.

J blessing is making it, MULLA!!

J Blessing as a
businessman, he has to work with
all musicians. “It is a calling to be
a gospel producer, but I also have
to work with the others,” he says,
as he insists that it is an issue that
has not and will not interfere with
his faith.
He first burst into prominence four
years ago after working on the
videos of Jimmy Gait’s, ‘Holy Day’,
and a hit by Mr Seed featuring
M.O.G, ‘Papa God Ooh’.
And from that moment, this
producer has never looked back, as
he prides in having worked on
some of the most popular gospel
songs in the country.
The list of the artistes he has had
a chance to work on their music is
long, a fact that seen his name.
“I have worked on the videos of
artistes like Jimmy Gait, Esther
Wahome, Kambua, MOG, Eko dyda,
Dunco, Alice Kamande, Gloria
Muliro, Eunice Njeri, Mercy
Masika, Betty Bayo, Ben Githae,
Kriss mhh baba, Willy paul and
Exodus from Uganda,” he says.
Also he has played a huge role in
careers of the likes of Willy Paul,
apart from being named producer
of the year at The Groove Awards
three years ago. “I also received
the same accolade at the Mwafaka
Awards last year,” he explains.
For upcoming artistes who wish to
work with this producer it’s quite
simple, you have to be talented,
disciplined and creative.

"No more thefts of smartphones"Android and Windows create a new feature in Smartphones.

Google and Microsoft are adding a “kill-switch” feature to their
Android and Windows phone
operating systems.
The feature is a method of making a
handset completely useless if it is
stolen, rendering a theft pointless.
Authorities have been urging tech
firms to take steps to help curb
phone theft and argued that a kill-
switch feature can help resolve the
problem.
Apple and Samsung, two of the
biggest phone makers, offer a similar
feature on some of their devices. The
move by Google and Microsoft means
that kill switches will now be a part
of the three most popular phone
operating systems in the world.
Smartphone theft has become a big
problem across the world. According
to a report by US authorities: some
3.1 million mobile devices were
stolen in the US in 2013, nearly
double the number of devices stolen
in 2012; one in three Europeans
experienced the theft or loss of a
mobile device in 2013; in South
Korea, mobile device theft increased
five-fold between 2009 and 2012;
and in Colombia, criminals stole over
one million devices in 2013.

A “hard” kill switch would render a
stolen device permanently unusable
and is favoured by legislators who
want to give stolen devices the
“value of a paperweight”. A “soft”
kill switch only make a phone
unusable to “an unauthorised user”.
Some argue that the only way to
permanently disable a phone is to
physically damage it.

RIGHT DIRECTION
Experts worry that hackers could find
a way to hijack a kill signal and turn
off phones, and if a phone is turned
off or put into aeroplane mode, it
might not receive the kill signal at
all.
Further, authorities claim that
Apple’s feature — dubbed Activation
Lock, which it introduced on all
iPhones running the iOS 7 operating
system in September last year — has
helped reduce theft substantially.
According to a report by the New
York State Attorney General, in the
first five months of 2014 the theft of
Apple devices fell by 17 per cent in
New York City. Meanwhile, iPhone
robberies fell 24 per cent in London
and 38 per cent in San Francisco in
the six months after Apple
introduced the feature, compared to
the previous six months.
“During the same period, thefts of
other popular mobile devices
increased,” the report says.
Mr Manoj Menon, managing director
of consulting firm Frost & Sullivan,
said the move was a step in the
right direction.
“[It] will go a long way in helping
authorities come one step closer to
realising a vision of zero theft of
mobile phones,” he said.

Divock Origi to Join Tottenham Spurs! Belgium Origi

W ith the departed Jermain
Defoe now too busy
watching ice hockey, Harry
Kane no longer the darling of Tim
Sherwood and Roberto Soldado no
longer the darling of anyone,
Tottenham need a hot young thing
to partner Emmanuel Adebayor up
front and fire them to a Europa
League place. Spurs’ scouting
department have been too busy
swigging beer and watching the
World Cup to care, but in
watching Belgium’s 1-0 victory
over Russia on Sunday, they
managed to spot the goalscorer
Divock Origi, and promptly
phoned up his club, Lille, for a
quote.
The French club are holding out
for £8m for the 19-year-old but
canny negotiator Daniel Levy will
start at £5m and hope to end up
somewhere in the middle. Origi
might only have scored five goals
in 30 league appearances last
season but remember, he’s a
‘starlet’ and most importantly of
all, he’s BELGIAN. Sign him up!
Somebody who didn’t score over
the weekend, but nevertheless
impressed in failing to do so
against a far superior opposition,
is Ashkan Dejagah . The Iranian
shone against Argentina on
Saturday and nearly gave his
nation a shock lead with a diving
header. The 27-year-old is set to
play in the Championship next
season after being relegated with
Fulham but after playing in Brazil
he has decided that might not be
for the best, with Everton
reportedly keen. “I don’t know
what will happen next season. I
still have a contract at Fulham
and have liked it there, but it is a
hard situation. Of course I want
to play in the Premier League, but
I will focus here and then we will
see what happens,” he shop-
windowed.
Another player in Brazil hoping
for a move is Victor Moses. The
Nigerian was hauled off against
Iran in their opening match and
didn’t make it off the bench
during their win over Bosnia. Vic
Mo over the hill? Alan Irvine
doesn’t think so, with West
Bromwich offering the Chelsea
winger a loan move for the
coming season.
Elsewhere, Steve Bruce thinks that
his son could do with some more
competition at centre-back at Hull
and is set to table a £4m offer for
Tottenham captain Michael
Dawson, while Swansea are
poised to offer free-agent
Bafetimbi Gomis a whopping
£80,000-a-week in order to beat
Newcastle and QPR to his
signature.

Willy M.Tuva, "I saw her naked"!!!

I first came to Nairobi just after the
1998 bomb blast. I lighted at South
B where I spent the night having
travelled from Mombasa at night.
I visited the city centre the next day
but had to cut short my business
since I met people walking so fast
and thought there was a
demonstration.
With all the stories I had heard
about tear gas, being roughed up by
riot police or even robbed off in the
process, I was really scared.
I was not taking chances and so I
hopped into the next matatu and
headed back to home.
I was looking forward for the 7pm
news to hear what the
demonstrations were all about.
But alas! I later learnt everyone in
Nairobi is always in a hurry.
In my first few days as a Nairobian, I
also learnt that it was almost a
‘crime’ to say ‘hi’ to random people
in the streets. People would stare at
me as if I was going to steal from
them. My polite gesture was only
earning me uneasy stares.
The Nairobi thieves who had the
guts to steal in broad daylight also
shocked me. I could not understand
how one could steal a vehicle’s side
mirror in broad daylight.
Women in Nairobi were also a sight
to behold. How one could walk half
naked while no one seemed to care.
To make the matters worse, it was
freezing outside!
I also suffered language barrier and
culture shock. The most amazing bit
was how one could comfortably say:
“Hizi maji ni zangu” (This water
belongs to me). To-date I am yet to
pronounce ‘bad’ Swahili or even
speak in sheng.

Bill Gates organized an enormous
session to recruit a new Chairman
for Microsoft Europe.

5000 candidates assembled in a
large room. One candidate was
Njoroge a Kenyan living in USA.

Bill Gates thanked all the
candidates for coming and asking
those who do not know JAVA
programming to leave, 2000 people
left. Njoroge said to himself, “I do
not know JAVA, but I have nothing
to lose if I stay. I’ll give it a try’”.

Bill Gates asked the candidates
who never had experience of
managing more than 100 people to
leave, 2000 people left and Njoroge
said to himself “I never managed
anybody by myself, but I have
nothing to lose if I stay. What can
happen to me?” So he stayed
behind again.

Then Bill Gates asked candidates
who didn’t have a minimum of a
Diploma in Business Management
to leave. 500 people left the room.
Njoroge said to himself, “I left
school at 15, grade 7, but what
have I got to lose?” So, he stayed
in the room.

Lastly, Bill Gates asked the
candidates who do not speak Serb-
Croat to leave. 498 people left the
room. Njoroge says to himself, “I do
not speak one word of Serb-Croat
but what do I have to lose?” So he
stayed and finds himself with one
other candidate.

EVERYONE ELSE HAS GONE.
Bill Gates joined them and said,

“Apparently you are the only two
candidates who have all the
required qualifications &
experience I am looking for and
speak Serb-Croat, so I’d now like to
hear you have a conversation
together in that language.
And……..”
Calmly, Njoroge turned to the
other candidate and in a horse
voice said “We mwega mundu wa
nyumba?”
The other candidate answered
softly but clearly saying “Gutiri na
oru, no gwethera ciana mutu.”

SEE What Marya (Chokoza) does to please MEN.

Marya's tatoos
are a revelation of her new
personality
We all knew the church-girl-nature
of Marya of the Chokoza hit song.
Now you should meet the no-
nonsense gangsta Marya. She
unveiled to Pulse the new her in the
making, a persona that might be
surprising, even shocking, to many of
her fans. Currently, Moustapha’s ex-
girlfriend has acquired two tattoos,
one with a microphone on the left
hand side of her arm and a black
rose and her name on the right-
hand side.
‘The microphone means that music
is part of my life, I am here to stay,
and my fans should expect big
things” said the artiste. When Pulse
asked if the rose symbolised love,
she had this say:
“No, the black rose on my hand
symbolises the struggles I have
undergone in life, it’s a permanent
reminder”
Done in tattered -dark grey jeans,
black sleeveless top and a black
marvin cap, Marya has decided to
walk the talk in her dressing, the
gangsta style.
“My new look won’t change the kind
of music I have been doing, I am
just expressing my inner feelings
using tattoos and a new dress code”
said the artiste.
And hey, don’t get it twisted,
despite her gangsta nature, Marya is
a woman in love. The curvaceous
artiste is deeply in love with her
new secret boyfriend whom they
have been dating for several months
now. This was after breaking up with
rapper Mustapha, her long time
boyfriend and mentor into the music
industry. She had also been
rumoured to be dating a city
politician, a rumour she vehemently
denied.

Miss University Kenya 2014: Joan Musumba

Miss Campus
(Center) and the runners up
Joan Musumba is the new Miss
University Kenya.
The Kenyatta University Economics
and Statistics student beat 16 other
finalists from various universities —
among them two fellow Kenyatta
University models who had beaten
her during the preliminaries — to
scoop the coveted crown during a
glitz ceremony held at the Kenyatta
International Convention Centre
(KICC) on Friday night.
On second place was Winnie Njoki
from Multimedia University of Kenya
with the current Miss Kenyatta
University Eunice Njeri coming third.
“This is both humbling and
overwhelming,” a jovial Joan told
shinekenya minutes after winning
the crown.
“It presents a new challenge to me
as being Miss University Kenya
leaves me with great responsibilities
among them representing Kenya
during the Miss University Africa
finals in October,” added Joan, an
extrovert who describes herself as a
go-getter.
Coincidentally, Joan has been
working under the mentorship of the
outgoing Miss University Eunice
Kamau, also from Kenyatta
University.
“I am so happy that Joan takes the
crown from me. I mentored her and
I agree that she deserved to win in
this competition that was truly a
close call,” Eunice remarked.
The winners went home with big
cash rewards presented to them by
the Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko who
was one of the guests.

Yemi Alade: Nigeria music stagnating?? Read here

Yemi Alade
She is popularly referred to as the
ghen ghen babe. Others call her the
Yoruba-ibo girl. She poses charming
beauty few can resist and that
combined with her electrifying stage
craft, Yemi Alade, the new talk-about
Nigerian singer stands tall as
Africa’s next big thing.
Her music is edgy and her unique
style evolving around an African
theme gives her an edge above all.
Her bi-tribal descent completes her
winning formula.
With her latest release Johnny
dominating music charts across
Africa besides turning into a club hit
in urban Kenya, the rather sassy but
humble 1989 born has her career
firmly focused, and here she comes
to Nairobi, with such a demand from
fans building and so, with
determination to prove that the buzz
is not just a fluke.
Local fans do like Yemi’s new hit,
Johnny but very little is known
about this fresh music dynamite.
“I begun making music
professionally in 2005 when I was
the lead of a girl group called Noty
Spices. Afterwards, I entered the
Peak Talent Show in 2009 and went
on to win the competition. That is
how it all started,” she reveals.
“It was after this when a released
my debut single Fimisile, featuring
eLDee and the song became a radio
hit. That introduced me to my fans
and since, I have never looked back,”
the gorgeous talented star remarks.
The young star — who grew up
listening to popular music of the
late eighties and early nineties by
singers like Mariah Carey, Whitney
Houston, Etta James and Aretha
Franklin — earned the, that Yoruba-
Ibo girl moniker as her mother is a
native of South-Eastern Nigeria and
her father is of South-Western
descent.
“I am the fifth of seven siblings; four
brothers and two sisters. I have
practically lived my life on stage,”
the University of Lagos Bachelor in
Science degree holder notes.
Her professional music career took
off on a high after she signed a deal
with Effyzzie Music Group in 2012. It
was here where she started working
with hit producers DJ Klem, D’tunes,
E-Kelly, Sizzle Pro, Fliptyce and
renowned South African producer
Garth.
“My single Ghen Ghen Love was
received well, topping numerous
radio and video charts,” Yemi notes
adding that she has since done
massive collaborations with Ice
Prince and Sasha P, both celebrated
Nigerian stars.
“I have since shared the stage with
top artistes from across the globe,”
she says.
After releasing the music video for
Johnny in March this year, the video
received critical acclaim gaining over
800,000 YouTube views in two
months.
The single has since become a
continental anthem gaining her a
massive following in Kenya, Tanzania,
Ghana, South Africa, Liberia, Uganda
and Zimbabwe.
“My new single is titled Tangerine
and it features Selebobo. It is
quickly gaining momentum across
Africa and I am happy with the way
fans have accepted and embraced
me.

Mutahi Ngunyi talks about Lamu killings and Raila

Renowned political analyst Mutahi
Ngunyi has rubbished the claims
that Al-Shabaab may be behind
the Sundays night terror attack at
Mpeketoni, Lamu County that has
left at least 48 people already
confirmed dead.
On his twitter account, Ngunyi,
who is credited for his hypothesis
duped “tyranny of numbers” that
disoriented the current opposition
victory in the last general
elections, argued that MRC are the
ones to blame for the attacks.

#MutahiNgunyi - To blame Al
Shabaab on Mpeketoni attacks
is NAIVE. Al Shabaab taking
blame is fake (can't verify).
THIS is MRC re-loaded. Rented
Terrorism!
This has followed his recent media
interview where the celebrated
political analyst raised a red flag
warning President Kenyatta and
his Deputy, that Raila Odinga was
reviving and marshaling militias in
the country to overthrow the
government.
He claimed that the outlawed
Mungiki sect, Mombasa Republican
Movement (MRC) as well as Al-
Shabaab are among the militia
groups the opposition leader is
marshaling.

#MutahiNgunyi - MRC
regroups.Then 'baba' consoles
Mungiki leader. Afterwards, he
sets Eastleigh on fire. Lately,
there are no bombs. Is this
national dialogue?
Whether he is right or wrong, time
will tell.
Mpeketoni is 40 kms inland in
Lamu County.
