Ringtone Accused Of Stealing Lyrics

Ringtone has been accused of stealing lyrics and tune belonging to A single by Sagero A kisii based musician.

Sagero claims Ringtone’s song muziki ni dawa was originally his song and Ringtone only changed it into a Swahili tune in his now popular single.
Ringtone defended himself by saying: “I would like Kenyans to know that even if the songs have a similar title, I wrote mine from the Bible story of David and Saul. I don’t know where he got his inspiration from,”
“Why is he going around spreading lies that I stole his song? I have never even heard what he sings in the first place,” Ringtone charged.

LATEST NEWS: Ex-minister Kamanya commits suicide after losing in Malawi polls

Heard of a minister committing suicide after losing an election? Perhaps, it has never happened in India. But a Malawian minister has killed himself, police say, even as results are still awaited from Tuesday's general elections. According to a BBC report, outgoing deputy Local Government Minister Godfrey Kamanya shot himself at home.
The minister's spokesman denied reports that his suicide was linked to him apparently losing his parliamentary seat. Official results have not yet been declared in what is expected to be a tight presidential race.
The BBC's Raphael Tenthani in Malawi said the electronic counting system had broken down in some areas and votes were being collated manually in these places. Mr Kamanya left a suicide note at his home in the capital, Lilongwe, asking President Joyce Banda to take care of his daughter and provide for her education.

According to a BBC report, outgoing deputy Local Government Minister Godfrey Kamanya shot himself at home.

Counting was being done manually because the electronic system was "refusing to take the information from the ground where data clerks are stationed to send the results", chief elections officer Willie Kalonga told the AFP news agency.

Google faces 'fraud' lawsuit for cancelling AdSense accounts before time

Thursday, 22 May 2014 - 3:07pm

A US-based company has filed a lawsuit against Google accusing the tech giant of engaging in fraud by canceling AdSense accounts just before they were due to pay out.
AdSense is a major advertiser partner network for Google that accounts for about a quarter of Google's annual revenue.
According to CNET, the case was filed by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro on behalf of Free Range Content, the California-based owner of Repost.us
Google's actions constitute breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, unjust enrichment, and violation of the California Unfair Competition Law, the report added.
The filing with the US District Court for the Northern District of California states that the lawsuit is trying to get class action status so that it can represent all US-based AdSense users whose accounts were disabled or terminated, the report added.

5 Weird Reasons You’re Still Broke & How to Fix Them… Kusota nayo....

I’m sorry to say that I’ve always felt like most of the personal finance advice on the internet seems to be lacking in reality.
I love people like
Suze Orman and
Dave Ramsey, but
the idea that
cutting out
Starbucks from my
budget is going to
magically make me a millionaire is
ridiculous. When I was rolling
pennies to pay my rent, you can bet
your ass I wasn’t thinking about
Starbucks.
I’ve since fixed my broken budget
and I’m well on my way to saving for
a prosperous retirement, but I
didn’t get there with
the normal financial advice
out there. Here are the 5 weird
reasons I was broke and how you can
keep from making the same
mistake…

1. Your Money is Too Accessible
There was a time when I sucked at
managing money so much that I had
to hide my savings from myself.
How’s that for will power?
And I know I’m not alone here.
I had a decent job, but it seemed
that every time I would get a little
extra in my checking account, I’d
promptly buy something ridiculous.
(“Why, yes I do need to order that
“Perfect Bacon Bowl” contraption I
saw on last night’s infomercial” or “I
guess I should go ahead and buy
these jeans. The sale ends on
Sunday, after all” ). Ridiculous.

2. You’re Working Too
Many Jobs
I know a lot of our readers are
working 2 or 3 jobs and still aren’t
able to make ends meet. You’re not
alone.
Instead of focusing on how to find a
4th or 5th job, start thinking about
ways to boost income
passively. Income that doesn’t
require you to work a ton of
additional hours.
Obviously most types of passive
income require you to have a
huge investment, but there are also
little things you can do to make
money.

3. You’ve Cut Up Your
Credit Cards or Frozen
Them

Ministry of Lands staff caught sneaking out title deed

A title deed must be kept
safely to avoid the rigorous
process of acquiring a new one
in case of loss.

Nairobi, Kenya: Today evening, Police arrested a casual member of staff at the Ministry of Lands who was caught sneaking out a title deed in a major breakthrough in unearthing a racket that is smuggling crucial documents out of Ardhi House.
Another woman was arrested on
Friday after she was found sneaking
files out of the lands registry as the
ongoing 10-day audit discovered
some 10,000 files which have been
missing for many years.
Tuesday, police apprehended
another woman after officers
manning the gates and who were
conducting a normal search on
employees leaving the building after
work found her with the title deed
belonging to Malindi Municipal
Council.
Langa’at Deputy OCPD Mwangi Kuria
said the suspect was locked up at
the Capitol Hill police station for
interrogation and would be
arraigned in court Wednesday.
He said they were also interrogating
another employee in the ministry
who was found with 10 title deeds in
his bag as he exited Ardhi House
Tuesday.
The central registry at Ardhi house is
currently closed to the members of
the public for a 10-day audit as the
ministry plans to digitize its
operations to promote efficiency and
effectiveness in service delivery.
Officers at Ardhi House who did not
want to be named told The Standard
that some ministry officials
apprehensive that they could be
nabbed due to their involvement in
corruption deals were secretly
smuggling files and title deeds
suspected to be illegally signed.
Documents targeted are those
signed by National Lands
Commission (NLC) which has
opposed the closure of the central
registry.

Miraa producers want to be allowed to export the stimulant to China after it was banned

The Nyambene Miraa Traders
Association said the matter should
be on Kenya’s agenda during the
visit by Chinese Prime Minister Li
Keqiang.
The traders said the government
had not fulfilled its promise of
ensuring the produce was allowed
in to China. The traders’
spokesperson, Mr Kimathi Munjuri,
said they had met and agreed that
the matter should be discussed
during Mr Li’s visit, which began
on Friday.
“China is the hub of herbal
medicine and miraa has many
medicinal values,” said Mr
Munjuri.
Having lost the battle to stop the
ban in Britain, they turned to
China with hopes that its huge
population would become the next
market for the Kenyan produce, he
said.
However, attempts to have the
Kenyan embassy in Beijing and the
Chinese embassy in Nairobi to help
open the market for the stimulant
had not borne fruits five years
since a request was made, he said.
The two embassies also failed to
help clear a contradiction on the
stimulant as only khat from
Ethiopia was allowed in China
while that from Kenya was
considered a hard drug, he
claimed.

Insecurity, cost of living top Kenyans’ concerns - survey

Ipsos lead researcher Tom
Wolf speaks when the
research company released its
opinion polls, May 10, 2014.

Kenyans have identified high
cost of living and insecurity as
the most critical issues the
country faces.
Although the high cost of
living still largely preoccupies
Kenyans – with 38 per cent
out of the 2,059 respondents
identifying it in the latest
Ipsos survey – insecurity
concerns have risen.
The ranking also show
Kenyans have put aside their
political differences after the
2013 elections to speak with
one voice regarding the
Jubilee Government after one
year in power.
The new Ipsos opinion poll
shows that Kenyans are more
concerned about their security,
with the recent cases of terror
attacks in Mombasa and
Nairobi compounding their
fears.
In that regard, majority of the
respondents think the country
was headed in the wrong
direction.
While identifying the main
problem they think the
country faces, more than twice
as many respondents
mentioned crime/insecurity as
they did three months ago, 17
per cent recently and 7 per
cent in February.
Regarding the recent effort to
improve national security
especially with “Operation
Usalama Watch”, Kenyans had
mixed reactions with more
than one third of respondents
believing that it will both
cause “more terrorist attacks”
and “a reduction in crime”
standing at 39 per cent and 37
per cent.
Last week, scores of people
lost their lives in Mombasa
and Nairobi blasts that
targeted travellers.
The pollsters believe the
situation would have been
different in terms of ratings if
the survey was conducted
after the grenade attacks.
KENYANS UNITED
Kenyans were united in
insecurity, high cost of living,
corruption and public
expenditure which were the
main thrust of the survey, the
second one this year to gauge
the performance of the
current government .
“However polarised people
were in the last general
elections, differences among
Kenyans have disappeared and
have almost similar views on
key issues affecting them.
“Insecurity is now pressing
down the high cost of living as
Kenyans are divided on the
issue of whether the Jubilee
Government is going in the
right direction or not,” said
Ipsos Social Political
Consultant Dr Tom Wolf.
Dr Wolf said although there
was grounds for optimism,
there was nothing to celebrate
about as most of the
respondents believe the
government was not going in
the right direction.
The survey shows that 60 per
cent of Kenyans who were
interviewed think that the
country is headed in the
wrong direction, while 26 per
cent have the contrary view;
while 13 per cent are either
not sure or did not give a
response.
The highest proportion of
those indicating that the
country is headed in the
wrong direction is from the
Coast and Nyanza regions,
both at 86 per cent.
However most positive
responses are found in Rift
Valley (46pc) and Central
regions (29pc) which are
Jubilee strongholds.
The poll conducted between
April 29 and May 7 showed
that 78 per cent of the
respondents believe that the
Jubilee Government was doing
worse than the previous
Grand Coalition government,
citing a number of critical
areas besides insecurity as
corruption, public expenditure
and unfulfilled election
promises.
Kenyans generally painted a
grim economic reality where
59 per cent stated their
economic conditions have
worsened.
This proportion has changed a
little over the previous two
surveys (six months).
In terms of political alignment,
nearly three times as many
respondents who identified
with Jubilee report an
improvement in such
conditions as do those who
identify with Cord at 28 per
cent and 10 per cent
respectively.
PUBLIC EXPENDITURE
As the debate on public
expenditure continues to take
centre stage, Kenyans have
suggested ways that would see
the government cut down on
its recurrent spending, with
fight against corruption being
given more prominence.
“Most frequently mentioned
idea is to reduce corruption,
with 49 per cent supporting
the move followed by cutting
salaries and allowances of
some or elected officials at 43
per cent and 40 per cent.
Dr Wolf said Kenyans have
concrete ideas on how public
expenditure can be cut given
that only 6 per cent of the
respondents do not seem to
know what was going on.
“Both supporters of Jubilee
and Cord seem to be reading
from the same script as they
are pretty much together on
reducing public expenditure,”
he said at the Ipsos Kenya
offices while releasing the
report to the media.
The survey highlighted some
change in the confidence
rating of leading officials and
institutions, with a fall in the
ratings of confidence for the
country’s two top leaders and
the media.
According to the poll, ratings
for the President and his
Deputy have both fallen by 9
per cent and 11per cent, while
for the media, it has fallen by
12 per cent.

Why carrying huge amount of Money is risky.

Have you ever heard that thieves
have mastered the smell of bank
notes? Okay, if not the smell, then
they know how a person who has
money behaves. Therefore, it is vital
to learn how to carry yourself when
you have money to beat them at
their game.
Men should carry their wallets in
the breast pocket or inside pocket of
the coat. Carrying it in the back
pocket of your trouser makes it easy
for the pickpocket to reach it
especially in congested streets or
when scrambling to board matatus.
Women should avoid carrying cash in
clutch bags as this makes it easy for
snatchers to make a kill. Instead, it
is good to put your cash in a bag
with shoulder straps. This will help
you to hold back in case someone
tries to snatch it.
OPEN MONEY TRANSFERS
Do not handle large amounts in
public places like open money
transfer shops or outside Automated
Teller Machines. Be discreet when
paying for your goods. Keep loose
money in easily accessible pockets,
this will help when paying for fares
and small purchases instead of
removing all your cash looking for
smaller notes.
