women is higher than among
young men – particularly for
youth age 23- 29 where women
are three times more likely to be
infected than men,” he said.
He added that high vulnerability
of young women to contract HIV
would require an additional
individual and national effort, to
ensure that associated structural
factors are addressed.
Gulaid said that it is also critical
to have a comprehensive sexual
reproductive education in the
communities and it’s vital that
each and every one should discuss
about HIV/Aids with their
children.
“As we are all aware, World AIDS
Day is celebrated on the 1st of
December every year for the
purpose of raising awareness
about HIV and AIDS and to
demonstrate International
Solidarity to respond to this
global pandemic,” he added.

UNAIDS Country Director, Patrick
Brenny gives his opening remarks
during the Commemoration of the
World Aids Day at Karimjee hall in
Dar es Salaam.
He noted that the global theme
for World AIDS Day from
2011-2015, as selected by the
World AIDS Campaign is ‘Getting
to Zero’ and the campaign focuses
on Zero New Infections, Zero
Stigma and Discrimination and as
a result Zero AIDS related deaths.
Gulaid underscored that the
reports from Joint United Nations
Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) as
of 2012 shows that remarkable
progress has been made over the
last decade, yet significant
challenges remain. As of 2012.
He went on to say that globally
there are 35.3 million people
living with HIV while there are
new 2.3 million HIV infections and
among those, there 960,000 new
HIV infections that prevail among
women aged 15 and above and
260,000 new HIV infections among
children below the age of 5.
“28.6million PLHIV are in need of
treatment, however only
9.7million (34 percent ) PLHIV are
accessing HIV treatment; 1.25
million Children in need of HIV
treatment did not have access;
There are 1.6million AIDS related
deaths, Furthermore reports
inform that 2 million adolescents
(10 to 19 years) are living with
HIV,” he clarified.

Beatrice Mkiramweni from the UN
Resident Coordinator’s Office
shares her experience on HIV/AIDS
to her fellow colleagues.
According to him that the report
further informs that there are
86,000 estimated new HIV
infections annually (between age
15-49years).
He explained further that the use
of Condom is very low. Only 27
percent of the interviewees were
conversant on the importance of
consistent use of both female and
male condoms, however only 8.3
percent reported using of
condoms.
“I wish to emphasize here, that, in
order to achieve the ‘Getting to
Zeroes’, it is important to practice
a “Shared Responsibility” as each
one of us has a role to play in
order to achieve “AIDS-Free
Generation.” He noted.
Gulaid noted that today more than
30 years with HIV/Aids epidemic,
the world should stop the
epidemic to continue to kill
thousands of young boys and girls

Passengers required to show national IDs before boarding City Hoppa buses in Nairobi

Operators of City Hoppa buses at
the Kencom terminal now insist on
being shown identity cards before
allowing passengers to board their
buses.
This is in addition to the usual
frisking of passengers.
The bus company has hired a team
of security personnel to conduct the
checks. They are tasked with
checking luggages and using metal
detectors to screen passengers.
There is also an employee who
checks on identification documents
as passengers queue for the buses.
The security measures were
introduced on Monday is response
to the terror blasts on buses on
Thika superhighway.
According to the company’s
transport manager Gabriel Maina,
the measures are aimed at ensuring
that all passengers are in the
country legally.
“For foreigners, we are checking
their passports. For refugees, we
are requesting for the alien ID or a
letter from the Refugee
Commission,” said Mr Maina.
The company is not too strict on
those without identification
documents. Other forms of
identification allowed include work
IDs, waiting cards, driving licenses
or a student IDs.
Passengers who claim to have
forgotten their identification
documents are excused, but with a
reminder to carry them along next
time.
“Through this thorough check, we
hope to be able to identify criminal
elements and forward them to the
security officials for investigations,”
explained Mr Maina.
City Hoppa is the first bus company
in the city to introduce the new
measures.

Kenyan women are DIRTY & smell like TOILET .. CAROLINE MUTOKO says.

Kiss
100’s Caroline Mutoko is now
advising Kenyan women to
observe hygiene since most of
them smell like toilets.
Speaking on her morning
breakfast show, the no-nonsense
radio presenter claimed that most
of Kenyan women don’t even
wash their hair causing
discomfort to men especially in
matatus.
“Women, pull up your socks and
observe hygiene since you are
causing discomfort to men. How do
you keep your hair for one week
without washing it? Yuck.” She
added.
Caroline told those women who
are not able to maintain their
weaves to shave their hair instead
of embarrassing themselves with
pathetic hair.
“Some women are even developing
worms in their hair due to poor
hygiene. Do something Kenyan
women.” She added.
Men, do you support Caroline
Mutoko’s sentiments that most of
Kenyan women are dirty?

Arsenal vs Hull City Lineup FA Cup 2014 Final

Arsenal will have a chance to
win their first silverware since
2005 fa cup final when they
defeated Manchester United on
penalties 9 years ago. They are
taking on Hull City in the FA Cup
final 2014 on 17th May at
Wembley Arena, London. Premier
League season is over and it will
be the last game for Arsenal
before players head to world cup
and off-season.

Arsenal coming into the final on
the back of a nerve recking
semifinal tie against Wigan
Athletic where they were
victorious on (4-2) penalties on
the other hand Hull City had to
come from behind agains League
one side Sheffied United to win
5-3 in what will be another big
cup final for the Hull City tigers.

• Possible Starting Lineups
for Arsenal and Hull City:

Arsenal will go with Giroud
uptop with Ozil, Podolski and
Cazorla supporting him from
attacking midfield roles while
Arteta will lineup alongside either Wilshare or fit again Aeron Ramsey (RAMBO), au vipi.... (Toboa siri).
Kallstrom may be given a sub bcoz of his attacking speed and kurandaranda uwanja mzima of which Hull city wont be at peace to plan their game.

• Hull City will have captain
Robert Koren in the starting
lineup apart from that we might
see the same team like in the
premier league game last week.

• Arsenal vs Hull City FA
Cup Final Predictions:

On paper its a Arsenal win
written all over it, Hull City
played superbly and they have
already qualified for Europe
because Arsenal managed to
secure their top 4 finish leaving
runner/winner of FA cup to get
into the Europea league and
most importanly Arsene Wenger
has a chance to silence his
critics by winning some
silverware and its around 9
years when last time they won
something.
I am going with an easy with for
Arsenal in this game, Hull City
will make it a bit rough and
tough but gunners have most of
their players back in the squad
and they should have enough in
the tank to overcome Hull City.

WHAT DO U SAY??

Kidero back as Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony goes out!!!

Dr Evans Kidero: Reinstated by
Supreme Court a day after Court of
Appeal quashed his election. Prof
Paul Chepkwony: Impeached by 32
MCAs as his supporters keep away
from Chamber. Mr Ali Hassan Joho:
A Uganda higher education agency
has said his degree certificate was
a fraud.
Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony
on Wednesday became the second
county chief to be impeached as
the Supreme Court temporarily
reinstated Nairobi’s Evans Kidero
who lost a petition on Tuesday.
And in Mombasa, Governor Hassan
Joho is facing a major legal battle
after the Ugandan National Council
for Higher Education ruled that his
degree was obtained irregularly,
meaning that he could lose his
seat.
The law requires every governor to
be a university degree holder.
In Kericho, 32 MCAs voted to send
Prof Chepkwony home, barely
crossing the required threshold of
two-thirds of the assembly.
Fifteen members of the assembly,
who were against the removal of
Prof Chepkwony, did not turn up
for the debate and voting, which
was presided over by Speaker
Japheth Mutai.
In Nairobi, the Supreme Court on
Wednesday reversed Tuesday’s
nullification of Dr Kidero’s election
by the Court of Appeal. A single
judge suspended the execution of
the entire judgement of the
appellate court that had sent Dr
Kidero packing.
